Why telecaster

In my opinion, I feel that there is a reason that a guitar that was designed in still sells by the boatload nearly 70 years later. Quite simply, they got it right. After nearly 70 years, the tone of a Telecaster is still very much relevant. You guessed it…. Posts: Cause it's funnier that way Oct 17, 4. Posts: 7, I always wondered that myself. Oct 17, 5. Posts: 55, Because it was a "mannerism" Fender maybe wished they hadn't adopted, but they were not inclined to "correct" themselves later.

Oct 18, 6. But they "corrected" themselves first in with Custom Telecaster and then around with all Telecasters when they adopted the "modern" "tv-friendly" Fender logo. No ""'s around word "telcaster" since until 's retro models appeared.

Age: 53 Posts: 2, I wondered about this in the past and here is my wild speculation: When Leo made the Broadcaster, there were no production electric guitars and thus no concept of model names. So rather than keep referring to it as an "electric Spanish-style guitar", he called it the "Broadcaster" and put it in quotes. With any guitar, no matter the brand, I highly recommend trying it before you buy it. However, the sound and the feel of a Stratocaster versus a Telecaster is extremely different.

There even could be a possibility where you love the feel of a Telecaster, but you love the sound of the Strat more. While it is going to take a little bit of extra work, you can combine all of the pickups and specs on the Strat and transfer them over to the Telecaster.

There are a whole bunch of different options for both guitars. So, you do have the ability to kind of Frankenstein your own guitar-based off on the bits and pieces that you like off of both instruments. Not unless you go into a guitar store and give both instruments a test drive. Stratocasters are better known to fit into blues and rock better, while Telecasters are popular in country music. However, both of these instruments have been used in countless other music genres and have been wildly successful in doing so.

Go out and play to see what you like best. The Stratocaster was designed from to , whereas the Telecaster started distributing in which makes it 4 years older than the Stratocaster. In our comparisons above, we compared the basic Fender American Standard versions of the guitar. Both instruments are loved by millions of hobby musicians and big-time rock stars. I hope you have fun on your Fender journey!

Danny grew up playing anything that looked like a guitar. Your email address will not be published. Skip to content. It is odd, but I can see a retro kind of thing going, if that is what Fender intended. My American Standard has them as well. I would have sworn there were no quotes until I ran down and checked!

If you look at photos of the earliest Esquires and Broadcasters before the switch to the name Telecaster , they have quotation marks around the model name, too.

I'm not sure why Leo decided to do that, but it's been on Fenders since the beginning. At least on the Telecaster-shaped guitars. Posts: 3, I heard those "quotation marks" have a very severe impact on "tone". I'd sand them off.

Something about the added weight to the headstock. Apr 5, Posts: 5, You must log in or sign up to reply here. Show Ignored Content. Your name or email address: Do you already have an account?
